Dear fellow Ruritans:

Our 2005 Holland District Governor started the Ruritan Forever Program last year to bring honor and recognition to Past National Presidents and other deserving persons from the various Clubs in the Holland District who have contributed time, money, lots of effort, and hard work in helping to increase membership in existing Clubs and to organize new Clubs. Due to the hard work of these persons the Ruritan Club is now a highly respected and very recognized Community Service Organization. The names of the honorees are on display at Ruritan National Office in Dublin, Virginia and the Clubs participating will be recognized at our District Convention on December 2, 2006.

As your 2006 Holland District Governor, I have decided to keep this most worthwhile program on the agenda. All of the District Clubs have done great things to improve their Communities. This program is another way to improve your Community by recognition of our forefathers who worked so hard to build the Ruritan Organization to what it is today. The least we can do to honor them is to make them Ruritan Forever members. Our forefathers are our past and our children are our future. What better example can we pass to our youth than to honor those who worked so hard to improve our communitties. Life is a book of memories, so let us try to leave the best ones that we possibly can.  If there is any surviving family they should be notified of this endeavor to honor their forefather. If he or she is so honored a special plaque will be provided to present to the deceased member’s family.

The Past National Presidents from the Holland District were outstanding leaders who helped Ruritan to be what it is today.  They gave many unselfish hours to this great organization.  It is very fitting that we recognize them with a Ruritan Forever Award.

At the beginning of 2005, there were (17) Past National Presidents and J.J. Gwaltney who was a great supporter from the Holland District. During 2005 Clubs signed up (6) and as of this date in 2006 we added (6) Past National Presidents plus a special member that worked with them in the Wakefield Club. We now have (6) more to sign up to complete this program. The remaining ones are:

This program is popular and getting positive support from many Clubs in the District.  I ask that you consider this worthwhile cause as a community service to the people that started our Clubs and improved our communities to make them better places in which to live. The full amount of $600 for each is necessary to enroll them, but it can be paid on installment payments and will be in effect when paid in full. If you have no Past National President from your Club I am requesting that you help the Clubs that do have one. Contact me for any other questions that you may have.
